Founded in the USA in 1950 by Louise
Sherbyn, with WIMA(Woman's International Motorcycle Association) in Europe established soon afterwards around 1956. |
There are now many active divisions including: Great
Britain, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand and
Japan, with a worldwide membership of 1500.
Each division has their own regional events and we
all get together in a different country every year for an International
Rally. We celebrated in 2000 when
WIMA turned 50 years old!!
WIMA GB has an active membership of approx. 450
members spread across the United Kingdom including overseas members too. The
club produces a monthly newsletter informing members of events at home and
abroad, as well as the current motorcycling legislation plans within Europe.
WIMA stands to support and promote motorcycling among
women - from the sheer pleasure of leisure riding or pillioning, to
touring, track racing, trials, green laning and speedway.
